rhr061: COLA FREAKS - "Mig Mig Mig" b/w "Knirk" "Udsigt Til Ingenting" Review: cola freaks [website] are gritty kbd punks from denmark who have somehow captured that amazing adverts guitar tone and made it their own....most recently jay reatard toyed with those same tones so it should be no surprise that this record was originally slated for release by shattered records. what sets them apart is that cola freaks draw from a darker region of kbd punk. mads stobberup's nervous vocal attack is riddled with tensions bordering on unstability. paired with the song writing, there's an underlying fear in cola freaks' songs that suggest a "don't fuck with me, i might snap' attidude. i.e. this isn't fun and safe punk rock and things will get crazy. Release Date: August, 2010. Pressing Details: 500 pressed; black vinyl. 200 repressed; b/w cover, white vinyl.

rhr059:EX HUMANS - "Ex Humans" LP Review: ex humans [website] got two killer 7"s under their belt via non-tradtional labels for a (now ex-) atlantan musician so if they're not on your radar yet you need to wake up and take note. if introductions are in order let's start with with josh martin (vox/gtr) who, after several years as carbonas' lead guitarist and an amazing perfomance on the s/t goner release, relocated to brooklyn for a change of scenery. the carbonas didnt last much longer so that decision seems to have paid off and gave ex humans a head start over other ex-carbonas bands. the no-bullshit powerhouse trio is rounded out by todd martin (b) and jesse martinez (drms) who help summon murder punk's blood, guts and gore for the group's debut LP on rob's house. make no mistake, if you're looking for another brooklyn loft-pop hipster band then ex humans arent for you but if you're like us and think that the punk underground has swayed too far from what punk really is then these guys will be the breath of fresh air you've been gasping for. recorded & mastered by dave rahn. art by gg king. Release Date: August, 2010. Pressing Details: 500 pressed; black vinyl. 200 repressed + 200 repressed black vinyl. Track Listing: Primitive, Halos, Islands, Contact High, Turn The Dial, See You Around, Shakin', Reckless Eyes, Emergency, You Got It, Mars.

rhr057: GEORGIANA STARLINGTON / WILD CHOIR - "Bravewolf" b/w "Cryin' Over You" Review: at the heart of georgiana starlington [website] is married couple jack and julie hines and their amazing male / female vocals harmonizing atop lo-fi blues-garage sounds. the rest of the band is filled out by a roaming cast of drifting cowboys and in the case of this release its moses archuleta (deerhunter) on drums and trey lindsay (gaye blades) on bass. compared to their first 7", this one benfits from the full band and has a much more textured aproach. wild choir, on the flip side, are a bit of a mystery to me but when jack and julie played me 'cryin over you' the split made perfect sense. they actually sound a lot like georgiana starlington but with the rock turned up to 11 and the country turned down to 2. the soulful in-the-red vocals could rival otis redding in delivery and any black lips tune in attitude. recorded on tape by jarvis woods. Release Date: May, 2010. Pressing Details: 500 pressed; black vinyl.

rhr056: SPENCEY DUDE & THE DOODLES - "Flirting" b/w If This Feeling Ends" "I Won't Cheat On You" "Girl Crazy" Review: If I weren't an east coast man at heart San Francisco / Bay Area is definitely where I'd want to be as they seem to be the obvious forerunners for the 'best local scene' award. With acts like Nobunny, Hunx, Personal & The Pizzas, Rantouls, Ty Segall, Skipper, Buzzer, etc. etc. they've really been cranking out the hit singles lately. So here's another San Fran band to add to the list: Spencey Dude & The Doodles [website] !!! This, their debut release, contains four amazing pop songs so instantly contagious that we could have split them up over 2 singles and sold 'em like crack but we just couldn't wait to get these out. No worries, we've heard their other 'un-released' stuff and can safely say there's no load-blowing here. Expect many more hits from Spencey Dude. Recorded by Greg Ashley (Gris Gris) and including members of Gris Gris and Dutchess & The Duke. Release Date: November, 2010. Pressing Details: 700 pressed; black vinyl.

rhr055: PREDATOR - "Honest Man" b/w "D.L.D.D." "No" Review: Predator's [website] roots can be traced back to a much earlier day of Atlanta punk when Douchemaster had just begun assembling its initial roster and Die Slaughterhaus was still run by Black Lips. At this time Brannon Greene and Mike "Bison" Beavers were just old enough to buy their own beer but were cranking out brilliant harcore punk under the name Frantic, a band that could have rivaled Carbonas if the circumstances were any different. They would also be a founding part of Beat Beat Beat, but in it's demise they would join forces with John Necro and summon up the same youthful attitudes and dark ingenuity they once nailed in Frantic. Within a few short months this trio has become forerunners in the Atlanta punk scene; and, not only is this 3-song e.p. a testement to that, its not the only card up their sleeves. Their LP (forth-coming on Douchemaster) is basically in the can and has a spot waiting for it on our year-end list. Until then, rob's house is pleased to wet your appetite with Predator's debut 7", mastered by Dave Rahn, with art by GG King (so you know its good!). Release Date: November, 2009. Pressing Details: 700 pressed; black vinyl.

rhr054: GG KING - "Drug Zoo" B/W "Witching Hour" "The Letter" Review: another new offshoot from members of carbonas and if you heard their first single on douchemaster you might even think it was the carbonas but this one strays pretty far from that tested sound. 'drug zoo' finds gg king mixing a bit of his name sake's influence with early aussie punk, a few hints of black metal and, to really mix things up, a box tops cover!! a few people might have heard these songs on gg's last of the night wiggers demos but here they are remixed, mastered and on vinyl! Release Date: July, 2009. Pressing Details: 800 pressed; black vinyl (100 copies with numbered poster). 100 repressed, black vinyl.

rhr048: SIDS - "Winter" b/w "Awake All Night" Review: last year we pressed up a limited seasonal 7" with two driving punk tracks from SIDS [website]. as promised, we've repressed it for your 2009 holidays. on paper its a xmas record but in typical SIDS' fashion the synth keyboards, darkly delivered vocals and creepy bells are much more than topical and worth repeat listens throughout the year. the band has completely redone the artwork (we love it!!) and the repress comes on red vinyl. last year's pressing sold out almost immediately so don't miss out. Release Date: December, 2008. Pressing Details: 300 pressed; clear vinyl (artwork shown top left). 300 repressed; red vinyl (artwork shown bottom left)

rhr046: THE WEAKENDS - "The Weakends" LP Review: the weakends [website] are back with the follow-up to their debut 7", and this time it's with a long-player that finds its home a bit more on the blues-punk side of the no-fi french underground. they are banging away, singing through broken PA's, sounding like a way cooler hot rod, 50's, b-movie band then you ever remember, or they sound like what those bands should have sounded like, but they were too self aware or just never that good. Release Date: October, 2008. Pressing Details: 1000 pressed; 100 white vinyl, 900 black vinyl. Track Listing: Long Dead Gone, Devil By My Side, Arty Party, Heatwave, Slow Down & Low, One Pill To Survive, Desperate Love Blues, Wild Type, Dawn Of The Dead, Time Is Tight, Back From Rhe Rave, Wisdom Teeth.

rhr025: CHEVEU - "My Answer Is..." b/w "Lola Langusta" Review: french trio cheveu [website] reflect a particular lo-fi music box brand of electro punk. their mix of cheap distorted guitars attempting rock and roll licks, crap drum machines, broken pianos and french blokes a-whooping, a-coughing and a-mumbling is some of the best stuff to come about recently. and to top it all off they're awesome guys too. rhr063 / sod004: GG KING- "Esoteric Lore" LP- coming soon When the Carbonas died, Atlanta wept. Mothers and children, left orphaned by the deceased, wandered the streets with tears streaming mottled faces. Strong and silent men struggled to maintain composure, and they retreated to basement workbenches, biting lips, cracking knuckles, running hands through thinning hair, sullenly wondering: "Why?" Skies darkened. A palpable feeling of devastating loss plagued the city. Nay, the world. Thankfully, ex-frontman Greg "GG" King wasted little time in yanking up his knickers and pursuing new noise. He wrote a series of tunes not unlike those he contributed to the Carbonas – that winning mix of hyperstrummed '70s Europunk and brawny stateside r'n'r pummel intact – and amassed a crew of friends and former bandmates to help him flesh out the din. He released a handful of solid teaser singles, played a number of good shows. He reasserted himself as one of Atlanta's greatest exports. And now, with the release of Esoteric Lore, his first full-length longplayer, the venerable GG King moves beyond his old guard, skindiving in new sinkholes. Yes, herein we find some highly Carbonic moments – traces of Hubble Bubble, The Kids, Zero Boys, et. al. – but we also hear the King & Co. vamp on vibes harnessed only previously by goth-punk forebears: early Christian Death, 45 Grave. We sense smudged traces of minimal mania a la 100 Flowers. We catch whiffs of the emblematic hardcore of the Germs & T.S.O.L., feel the plod 'n' thud of Negative Trend. We're treated to bits of hijacked shortwave, aural static clinging 'tween songs proper, bleeding into the tunes themselves. And we hear a walloping wayward punk rec that nods knowingly toward L.A.-circa-'82, but in melding its influences, somehow sounds distinctly Atlanta, and right now. And right now, here's what's happening: Rob's House Records and Scavenger of Death [website] bring you GG King's Esoteric Lore, the newest chapter in Atlanta's seedy r'n'r trajectory. Release Date: May, 2011. Pressing Details: 1000 pressed; 200 white vinyl, 800 black vinyl. |

rhr062: GAMES - "Don't Look For Her" b/w "Funny Girl" Review: Games are made up of ex members of Busy Signals and Gentlemen Jesse but to call them a powerpop band would be missing the point. These guys are mining sounds that predate that stuff by a good 5-10 years. Yea, its the kinda stuff that would later influence 'powerpop' (Greg Shaw recognized this early on when he reissued Rockin' Horse on his Voxx label) but there are no skinny ties and Rickenbackers. Instead, Games are tackling maturer themes with a slightly darker approach to pop. You'll also notice a few glam undertones as Games' seem to be genuinely interested in exploring all 'pop' can offer rather than repackaging / remarketing any one style. Rob's House is pleased to release Games' debut single. Release Date: January, 2011. Pressing Details: 500 pressed; black vinyl. |

rhr060: PERIPHERIQUE EST - "Hey Jack" b/w "Tous Les Mots" "Chiens De Faience" "Marie" Review: in typical DIY fashion, belgian punkers peripherique est self-released their debut LP back in 2005. the pressing was small and sold out as quick as it came but there were no represses and they never really broke through the immeasurable number of bands with self-released records. however, as the next few years ticked by the band's short-lived legacy spread via word of mouth and their record became more and more collectible. so now that people are finally taking notice here's something more to add to the armory: 4 tracks with the punk attack of starshooter and touch of pop a la elton motello. Release Date: August, 2010. Pressing Details: 500 pressed; black vinyl |

rhr058: DAVILA 666 - '12" EP' Review: davila 666 [website] are in full-on take no prisoners mode. we asked them for a couple songs for a 7" and what we got was 5 near perfect pop anthems that would never fit on a 7". of course we wanted them all so we threw them on a 12" and what youre getting is probably their best release to date. these songs are instantly addicting but unlike other puerto rican imports consumption is no crime, it's encouraged! on top of that their live show is one of the best around and their constant touring has left a path of amazed fans. its no wonder that when we booked the atlanta mess around the legendary urinals asked specifically not to be placed after davila 666 in the lineup!! who in their right mind would want to follow davila 666? ...better to follow 'em with a shot of something equally strong. Release Date: May, 2010. Pressing Details: 700 pressed; black vinyl. 200 repressed; 150 repressed; 160 repressed. Track Listing: Ohhh, Dos O Tres, Mariel, La Killer Bitch, Y Me Pregunto. |

rhr053: BOBBY UBANGI- "Inside the Mind of Bobby Ubangi" LP - currently out of print Review: atlanta's champion craftsman of the three-chord garage sing-a-longs goes by the name of bobby ubangi and this record is a rare trip inside the same mind that brought you the lids and the gaye blades. recorded on 4 track, the most humblest of DIY methods, the tracks range from lo fi rockers to sappy garage tear jerkers but with guest appearances by old king cole younger (black lips), jared swilley (black lips), king khan, gentleman jesse, and many others 'inside the mind of' is anything but simple. the LPs 12 track pack a punch and attest to the wonders an able song writer can do with just three simple chords! Release Date: May, 2009. Pressing Details: 600 pressed; black vinyl. Track Listing: Another Girl Like You, Out Of Line, Make You Mine, Dry, Where The Old Folks Go (To Get Down), Some Kind Of Love, I Dont Want To Be You, Spaceshit, That's Alright, Not My Fault, Busty Summertime, Sinking. |

rhr052: CUSTOMERS - "Howling At The Moon" b/w "She's Heroin" "Monster On The Loose". Review: Customers' debut 7-inch is a three-song single that finds former Beat Beat Beat guitarist Stephen Hutton moving beyond the sneer of bullet-belt punk songs into a more personalized sound. The group gathers refugees from defunct Atlanta punk bands Carbonas and Heart Attacks to craft razor-sharp, though thoroughly damaged, pop melodies greater than the sum of their parts. "Howling at the Moon" and "Monster on the Loose" move quickly and smoothly by design, and "She's Heroin" cuts with sneering, Johnny Thunders-style solos that remain tastefully restrained. Each song leans toward the loud/fast rock and roll of the Replacements, circa Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash, but it's hardly a dominant trait. These songs are infectious, cathartic and absolutely hell-bound. Release Date: May, 2009. Pressing Details: 600 pressed; black vinyl. 200 repressed; black vinyl. |

rhr051: PERSONAL & THE PIZZAS / BOBBY UBANGI - "I Don't Feel So Happy Now" "I Ain't Taking You Out" "That's Alright" "Maybe" Review:The big beef here is that Personal only gives up one new song on this and repeats "I Don't Feel So Happy Now" (well, they do change the title slightly, but it's still the same damn song...I'm not falling for that one.) from their debut 7" for some reason. It is my favorite song of that record, but what the fuck. The one new cut is a primo slice though, another acoustical attitudical Dolls/'Tators-styled ballad that might even slide into kinder-n-gentler Dead Boys turf. The Ubangi side has him doing two one-man garage slower tempo strummers. Ramones-esque (think "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend") in structure and simplicity. An interesting take on the self-recorded/one man idiom from these two, when you think about it. Not just Myspace weirdos and Sacred Bones recording artists are capable of operating a four-track by themselves in their bedromms/basements, you know. For that, I give this single bonus points. Release Date: March, 2009. Pressing Details: 600 pressed; black vinyl. 100 repressed; black vinyl (numbered 601-700). |

rhr050: DEMON'S CLAWS - "Weird Ways" b/w "9000 Feets"
Review: "Weird Ways" is a Jeff Clark song, and is actually a quite beautiful country crooner with piano about the wiles of the fairer sex, of course. Makes me think of 'The Last Waltz' for some reason. Wait...are Demon's Claws the modern equivalent of The Band? Kinda makes sense. "9000 Feets" is a Pat B. compostion, and has more confident and heavyfooted rock in its sound but still lies firmly in the prairie overall. Really intimate feel brings these tracks home with that little extra something that makes me like this quite a bit more than the past few singles (even though the last Rob's House 7' was culled from the same session). I'm not going to say this is great, but it's better than good. Does that even make sense? A real nice little two-songer that perfectly encapsulates their Southern US-meets-Great White North approach though, and I'd be interested to hear the whole session now. I gotta think about this Demon's Claws = The Band thing some more too." Release Date: March, 2009. Pressing Details: 500 pressed; black vinyl. |

rhr049: BRIMSTONE HOWL - "Mammon" b/w "Solitary Man" Review: brimstone howl are less of a band, and more an offensive attack. Unashamedly passionate about garage rock and gloriously dispassionate toward those who fail to recognise it as the feral noise of a caveman pounding wild boars with jagged granite. Mammon, the single's massive a-side, is a beautiful, multi-faceted, and most notably, mature track from one of the best non-shit-fi pigfuck garage bands around. Neil Diamond's Solitary Man backs this single, though its nothing like the original as Nick Cave vocals and dark closet production keep front-man John Ziegler firmly in check. Release Date: March, 2009. Pressing Details: 500 pressed; black vinyl. |

rhr047: JACUZZI BOYS - "I Fought A Crocodile" b/w "Blowing Kisses" Review: "'Jacuzzi Boys continue to make great garage/swamp records amidst a rising tide of mediocrity. They seem to insist on quality, a rare trait in this age of ceaseless releases and constant hype. Here’s two songs to be proud of, both through the conga shimmy of “I Fought a Crocodile” and the late-nite croon of “Blowin’ Kisses,” just because these guys give enough of a shit to realize that their rock is their own, and what they stand behind – it’s more than fun after a while, and if you can’t make an honest, signature attempt to bend it into a truly personal artifact, you might as well give it up. I hope these boys stay in the Jacuzzi until they’re pruny, because clearly they’re doing something right. Great recording too, really clean and gives the right elements the most attention; doesn’t sound like a budget job, and if it is, good work." Release Date: November, 2008. Pressing Details: 600 pressed; 100 gold vinyl, 500 black vinyl. |

rhr044: BOBBY & THE SOFT SPOTS - "Can't Get Her Off" b/w "I Don't Need You" Review: "'Just can't get her off' is the A-side From Bobby and the Soft Spots...I think he might not only be referring to someone being literally on him but probably something else..one of those innuendo's. I also keep thinking he's saying 'Just can't get enough' and this is a garage/punk cover of the Depeche Mode classic....yea right. This is rowdy bar, american 80's punk, or late 70's...a lot of chorus, power chords. It's the kind of thing you couldn't ever imagine anyone getting pissed off at a bar and throwing something at. It's born out of those places...it's the default music for a beer bottle smashing, chair throwing time. th noting that the pic sleeve montage makes for one of the sharpest looking records I've seen lately." The Rob's House 7", the one with the scratch-off cover (which does reveal meat (cut) when scratched), has a ramshackle lo-fi Ramones-vibe (lyrically and sonically) to get the fag hags bouncing, with the title cut having a nice glam-stomp to it as well. Totally cute, the lyrics are great too. Release Date: September, 2008.
